I really enjoyed watching the movie “Music & Lyrics”. I thought it was very funny and entertaining.
“Music & Lyrics” is about an ex-member of an 80’s pop group named Alex (Grant) who is asked to write a hit song for a new young singer named Cora (Bennett). Alex only knows how to write music so he gets his employee named Sophie (Barrymore), who knows how to write lyrics, to help him.
I thought that the actors were very funny and believable in the roles. I especially liked how the movie skewed the music industry. An example of this is a scene when it shows a music video from Alex’s old band. It is very funny because it completely spoofs 80’s music videos by the video being very cheesy and over-the-top. Another example is the character of Cora. The Cora character makes fun of today’s pop singers. The character claims to be very spiritual but her music is soulless. That difference is what makes it so funny.
Because of the believability of the characters, the humour, and the subtle jokes about the music industry, I thought that “Music & Lyrics” was a great movie. |
